Garden Designer

The Design Process
The Decision
I visit you and your garden and we discuss your requirements and decide whether you want the whole garden designed, part of the garden designed, or just need to discuss your ideas with another person and get some advice. At this stage we will also discuss whether you may want me to provide a landscaper to build the garden or whether you want to use your own builder or even build it yourself. Importantly you will specify the budget for the garden and we will discuss my fees.
Answering the Questions
If you have chosen to have some or all of the garden designed I will then fill in a questionnaire of your likes and dislikes, what sort of plant types you require, whether the garden needs to be suitable for children or the elderly, etc. I will also take lots and lots of photographs.
The Formalities
I send you a written proposal outlining our previous discussions and a contract to sign if you agree with the proposal.
Surveying and Measuring
I survey and measure the garden, at the same time I will take soil samples for analysis and pH levels to ensure that only plants which will grow in your garden are used in the design.
The Fun Bit (for me)
I draw the designs. These will include an original layout plan, a proposed layout plan showing hard landscaping features and planting plans of all the areas of planting and produce some sketches. One or more of these plans will be coloured to give you a better impression of your finished garden.
With fingers Crossed........
I present the designs to you together with a document describing the garden and all of the elements within it. This includes pictures and a brief description of every plant used.
The Finishing Touches
We discuss the design and agree any revisions I may need to draw. If there are revisions
they are made and the design re-
The Best Bit
The garden can now be built and planted.
